Umbrella.. ella.. ella.. eh.. eh..

Uhm.. err.. SHUT UP!
I know.. I myself still can't believe that I'm actually posting this song on my blog!

I mean.. WTF! This is so not, borrowing from Mandy Moore, the kind of music that I listen to. But this guy is just.. I don't know.. he got it perfectly, just about right, not too much, not too little.

This ubiquitous, monstrous, overplayed, somewhat-annoying-if-not-appalling, hip-hop tune trade-marked by Rihanna was on my top list of not-a-chance-in-hell song, until I found the cover by this guy called Scott Simons.

It is actually a good song, a great song even. A well-composed, no.. not classic, but more like.. text-book arrangement of a good pop song. It got melody, lyric, and the hooks are just.. killing.

Anyway, take a listen here:

And compare it to the original version here:

And finally, another decent version from Mandy Moore here:

Rogue Wave: "Love's Lost Guarantee"

Uhm.. nothing really. It's just that I've been spending my Saturday browsing for new music, back and forth between Yahoo Music to YouTube then checked on Amazon.com as well as iTunes. And then I stumbled again upon one of my most favorite bands: Rogue Wave. Their new album is coming this Tuesday (on Amazon.com that is, I don't know how iTunes got it a week earlier). But I'm not talking about that one here, I'm talking about "Descended Like A Vulture", the one that hooked me up to their music a little more than a year ago.

And I was so pissed when I found out that my iTunes didn't have that album! I just realized it and I was like "NO WAY! I've been listening to them religiously for almost 2 years!". Not on iTunes means not on iPod, and that's like.. disaster! (Warning: I'm a freak, so get used to it.. :P). So I went and searched it in my hard drive.. there it was.. in a "Ripped CD" folder. Apparently, I owned the physical album. I didn't buy it digitally from Yahoo. Man.. I didn't know that.

Anyway, I added the album into my iTunes, and made sure that next time I sync my iPod, it will be there ready for me to be enjoyed.

In the meantime. I went ahead and played this one song that really really, I mean, REALLY REALLY made me fall in love with them. It's called "Love's Lost Guarantee".

It goes like this:

Fire's rage down in the north
Hell is here, what a source
Man lost his little machine
Hair and bone and Maybelline
Then you go for your one shot
To where you are

Bad vibes, from love on the side
It made her bleed, but he'll confide
Mirrors are hard to come by
Eyes are closed and hands are tied
Then you go for your one shot
To where you are

Oh what you need, so guaranteed
Oh what you need, so guaranteed

Love comes like a Kennedy curse
The victim's role is well rehearsed
You can paint over any mistake
But you can't remove the original fake
Then you go for your one shot
To where you are, where you are

Oh what you need, so guaranteed
Oh what you need, so guaranteed

Oh what you need, so guaranteed
No
Oh what you need, it's a guarantee
Oh what you need, so guaranteed
No
Oh what you need, it's a guarantee
Oh, oh, oh...
So guaranteed

F*ck I got chills every time I hear this song. Really. I mean, REALLY. Gosh I'm a freak..
