"I'm Waiting to Know You" - The Fiery Furnaces, "Bitter Tea"

I’m waiting to know you, far away; send up a balloon says write to me soon.
I’m waiting to know you, far away:set up at the pier, wait 'til you get here.

And when I’m about to give up hope--but Nope,
with my telescopeI’m standing guard the navy yard
to see:could there one for me be? Baby oh no where did you go?

I’m waiting to know you, far away; flashlight the cave; listen short-wave.
I’m waiting to know you, far away;dredge up the lake; all the trees shake.

And when I’m about to give up hope--but Nope,
with my telescope I’m standing guard the navy yard
to see:could there one for me be? Baby oh no where did you go?

I’m waiting to know you, far away; msend up a balloon says write to me soon.
I’m waiting to know you, far away; flashlight the cave; listen short-wave.

And when I’m about to give up hope--but Nope,
with my telescope I’m standing guard the navy yard
to see:could there one for me be? Baby oh no where did you go?

Baby oh no where did you go?

"Countdown to Indonesia"

Saturday, July 1. More or less one month away from my vacation to Indonesia. It sounds kind of awkward to call this "vacation" since I am an Indonesian. I should've just called it "visiting my friends and family." Although, I might do some touristy stuff in Indonesia, hanging out and traveling some with my old buddies, driving around my hometwon with my family, and especially showing Paul around where I grew up. And yes, we're going to Bali for 4 days. I know it's a little cliche but, I think he does need to see Bali.

We'll be leaving on August 2nd, flying with Singapore Airlines. There will be a 6 hours transit in Singapore, which we thought would be cool to see things around there some. I haven't really finalized everything completely, yet. But at least we'll be fine for the first 10 days of our stay in terms of accomodation, airline tickets, transportation, and everything. We initially planned on visiting Yogyakarta as well, but since I will need to attend one of my friends' wedding on August 13rd, we decided to skip Yogyakarta this time. It's a little tight on the schedule. Besides, Yogyakarta is still ruined from the last earthquake, so I'm afraid it wouldn't be too appropriate to do touristy stuff there. We will visit Bandung instead. Only 2 days, and one night, before we'll be driving to Bogor for my friend's wedding. The good thing is, I will get to roam around with my friends some. Well, I hope all of us will have a really good time.

We will stay in Indonesia for around 2 weeks, will be back on August 19th. I took 2 weeks off of my paid vacation, and 3 days of my floating holidays (that still leaves me with one full week unused paid vacation! YAY!). The first 2 days we will spend our time in Jakarta, meeting with my old friends, probably take them to dinner some, exchanging stories and everything. Basically just the "I miss you, I miss you too, mwah mwah" part. Then we will fly to my hometwon in West Sumatra. We will stay there for 5 days, visiting my family, driving around to check some cool stuff and the sceneries, and will definitely do some (or alot of?) shopping.

Flying back to Jakarta, we will drive to Bandung the next day. We're renting a car from one of my friends' company, and one of them will drive. We will stay one night in Bandung, and do some cool cultural, shopping, culinary, and sightseing stuff. I haven't really planned that in detail yet, but at least I have got the rough picture of how it's gonna be like. I still need to book us a hotel to stay at though.

After my friend's wedding in Bogor, Paul and I will fly to Bali for 5 days. We probably will stay somewhere around Legian/Seminyak area for the first 2 days. It's supposed to be pretty hip there. We will try to go to all cool touristy places, the temples, the beaches, the buildings, and maybe some cultural events (and maybe checking out some clubs.. *duh*). Paul also wants to stay one night in Ubud (although I'm not really sure what staying in a village like Ubud will be like, I think it would be fun. At least we can do some hardcore shopping there). The last day probably we should spend somewhere in Nusa Dua area. Just enjoying the serene and gorgeous white-sandy beaches, and probably do some water sport thingy (no, I don't swim, so heaven knows).

All in all, that's pretty much it. I know it wouldn't be and ideal plan to see Indonesia for 2 weeks only. There's too much to do, too much visit, to much to see, to much to experience. But we will come back in the future. It's just gonna be our first time, there will be many many nexts.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to do some more hotel shopping and planning on the detail itinerary for the whole trip. I will... see you in a bit?
